Three lanes of U.S. 322 eastbound touch down at Bridgeport ahead of junction U.S. 130. U.S. 130 travels a four-lane highway (Crown Point Road) northward from Deepwater and Penns Grove to U.S. 322 at Bridgeport. The cloverleaf interchange between the two highways see U.S. 130 upgrade to a full freeway on its northward trek to Interstate 295 north. U.S. 322 on the approach to the Commodore John Barry Toll Plaza and cantilever bridge. The bridge, which opened to traffic in 1974, replaced a ferry that crossed the Delaware River between Chester, Pennsylvania and Bridgeport, New Jersey. The bridge carries a $3 toll for the westbound direction and 5 reversible lanes. U.S. 322 follows an elevated freeway 3.5 miles between Bridgeport to its merge with Interstate 95 at Chester. Situated just south of the span is the former U.S. 322 which is now signed as New Jersey 324 (Old Ferry Road). Photos taken 09/19/04.
