
U.S. Highway 1 & 9
U.S. 9 overlaps with U.S. 1 in New Jersey from Woodbridge northward to the New York State line on the George Washington Bridge (Interstate 95). The tandem travels the famous Pulaski Skyway from War of the Worlds fame over the Passaic and Hackensack Rivers between Newark and Jersey City. Designated a Civil Engineering Landmark, the skyway won the American Institute of Steel Construction Most Beautiful Bridge Award upon completion in 1932.

| Middlesex County 531 (Main Street) at junction U.S. 1 in Metuchen. A partial-cloverleaf interchange handles the movements between the two surface arterials just south of Interstate 287. U.S. 1 interchanges with Interstate 287 (Exit 1) just west of its end at the New Jersey Turnpike/Interstate 95 & New Jersey 440.
