Site Navigation Connecticut Maine Massachusetts New Hampshire New Jersey New York Pennsylvania Rhode Island Vermont     Interstate 695 - Throgs Neck Expressway Interstate 695 constitutes the northern 1.50 miles of the Throgs Neck Expressway between Interstate 95 (Bruckner Expressway) and Interstate 295 (Cross Bronx Expressway). The designation supercedes "Interstate 295 Spur" and was signposted in 1986. The Official Federal Highway Administration Interstate Route Log and Finder List however does not recognize Interstate 695 as a separate entity and rather includes the mileage in the Interstate 295 tally. Interstate 695 North The beginning of Interstate 695 northbound as it continues the Throgs Neck Expressway northward from Interstate 295 to Interstate 95 (Bruckner Expressway). The 1.50-mile freeway features one off-ramp along northbound for Ellsworth and Lafayette Avenue. Pictured here is the one-half mile overhead for the Ellsworth Avenue exit. Photo taken 08/09/04. Ellsworth Avenue parallels Interstate 695 (Throgs Neck Expressway) northbound from Bicentennial Veterans Memorial Park to Fairfax Avenue. Connections via Fairfax Avenue and Throgmorton Avenue link the Lafayette Avenue off-ramp to Country Club Road and Pelham Bay Park. These areas are also served by Interstate 95 Exit 7C. Ellsworth Avenue intersects Lafayette Avenue one block to the north of the departing off-ramp. Interstate 695 traffic joins Interstate 95 northbound onto the Bruckner Expressway at the Exit 7C off-ramp onto Macdonough Place. Macdonough Place intersects Country Club Drive just north of Exit 7C and ends two blocks north of there at Middletown Road and Pelham Bay Park. Photo taken 08/09/04. Interstate 695 South Interstate 695 departs Interstate 95 via a partial "Y" interchange (Exit 7B) at the Schuylerville neighborhood of the east Bronx. The freeway includes a frontage street system consisting of Throgs Neck Expressway southbound and Ellsworth Avenue northbound. The Randall Avenue off-ramp comprises a slip ramp onto the frontage road southbound one quarter mile beyond the Interstate 695 beginning. Photo taken 08/29/05. The last Interstate 295 interchange before the Throgs Neck Bridge serves the Throgs Neck peninsula areas of Fort Schuyler and SUNY Maritime College. Interstate 295 continues the Throgs Neck Expressway southward to the Throgs Neck Bridge over the East River. Motorists destined to Exit 9 for Harding and Pennyfield Avenues must cross the travel lanes of Interstate 295 southbound for the nearby off-ramp. Photo taken 08/29/05. Towers of the Throgs Neck suspension Bridge rise above the tree line at the Interstate 695 southbound merge onto Interstate 295 south. Exit 9 departs ahead onto the adjacent frontage street at Harding Avenue. Harding Avenue stems west from the Throgs Neck Expressway to Pennyfield Avenue within the Locust Point community of the east Bronx. Interstate 295 otherwise enters the Throgs Neck toll plaza; all passenger vehicles must pay $4.50 to cross the bridge to Queens. Photo taken 08/29/05.
