Interstate 287 North
Interstate 287 northbound at the ramp departure of Exit 41A to Interstate 80 east and nearby Smith Road. Exit 41A comprises two lanes for Patterson, The Oranges (via Interstate 280), Clinton, and Hackensack. An off-ramp splits from Interstate 80 eastbound traffic to Smith Road just south of the U.S. 46 intersection with Littleton Road (Parsippany-Troy Hills). Photo taken 4/10/00.
Interstate 287 South
A directional cloverleaf interchange comprises the junction between Interstate 287 and Interstate 80 at Exit 41. The southbound side of the freeway expands to four overall lanes with the addition of an exit-only lane for Exits 41B/A and Interstate 80. East of Interstate 287, Interstate 80 expands to four overall roadways and an express/local configuration. Photo taken July of 1995.
Replaced overheads for the directional cloverleaf interchange of Interstate 287 southbound at Interstate 78 (Exits 21B/A). Interstate 78 provides the main east-west route between New York City and Newark east of Interstate 287. West of Exit 21B the freeway migrates to Clinton, Easton, Bethlehem, and Allentown, Pennsylvania. A new sign bridge was installed by 2000 to replace the overheads attached to the Somerset County 620 (Burnt Mills Road) overpass. The Exit 21B control point of Clinton also was replaced and now features Easton, Pennsylvania. Easton lies 30 miles to the west. Photo taken July of 1995.
