Interstate 278 Westbound New York

The guide for Interstate 278 is split between six pages:

Interstate 278 West (Bruckner Expressway)
A diagrammatical overhead advises westbound drivers of the upcoming junction with Interstate 87 (Major Deegan Expressway). The sign bridge is posted after the merge of traffic from Interstate 895 (Sheridan Expressway) onto the Bruckner Expressway westbound. Photo taken 08/09/04.
An off-ramp to East 138th Street (Exit 45) exists midway between the southern termini of Interstate 895 (Sheridan Expresway) and Interstate 87 (Major Deegan Expressway). East 138th Street is significant in that it represents one of the free crossings of the Harlem River between the Bronx and Manhattan Island. Photo taken 08/09/04.
Nearing the East 138th Street off-ramp (Exit 45) of Interstate 278 (Bruckner Expressway) westbound. Exit 45 utilizes adjacent Bruckner Boulevard westbound between Southern Boulevard and East 138th Street. The return ramp to Interstate 278 westbound joins the freeway via Cypress Avenue at East 135th Street. Photo taken 08/09/04.
Motorists bound for the Port Morris and the Mott Haven sections of the Bronx via East 138th Street and Bruckner Boulevard depart Interstate 278 westbound at Exit 45. Six lanes of the Bruckner Expressway continue otherwise toward the Triborough Bridge and southern terminus of Interstate 87. Photo taken 08/09/04.
Interstate 278 (Bruckner Expressway) continues toward the split with Interstate 87 north (Major Deegan Expressway) and the Triborough Bridge south. The set of signs pictured here include the older control point for Interstate 87 of Upstate and the Triborough Bridge connections to Manhattan and Queens. Photo taken 08/09/04.
The capital city of Albany has replaced most of the Upstate New York control points for Interstate 87 throughout the city of New York. Interstate 87 follows the Major Deegan Expressway northward through the Bronx to the West Chester County line. There the highway transitions into the tolled Thomas E. Dewey New York Thruway northward to junction Interstate 287 (Cross-West Chester Expressway). Photo taken 08/09/04.
Traffic not turning northward onto Interstate 87 (Deegan Expressway) defaults onto the tolled Triborough Bridge southbound. Interstate 278 crosses Randalls Island, Wards Island, and the East River between the Bronx and Queens. Another bridge joins Interstate 278 with Franklin D. Roosevelt Drive (FDR Drive) from Manhattan at Randalls Island. Photo taken 08/09/04.
