The first northbound reassurance shield of Interstate 99 resides along the U.S. 220 freeway just north of the Bedford trumpet interchange (Exit 1). Interstate 99 exists along U.S. 220 between Bedford (Pennsylvania Turnpike) and Bald Eagle at present but is slated for a northward extension through State College to junction Interstate 80. The first exit of Interstate 99 northbound joins the freeway with Pennsylvania 56 near the village of Cessna. Pennsylvania 56 travels northwest from U.S. 220 Business at Cessna to Pleasantville, Ogletown, and Johnstown. Although unsigned along Interstate 99 & U.S. 220 north, U.S. 220 Business returns to U.S. 220 at Exit 3. Photo taken 10/08/01.
