Interstate 95 (Trenton Belt Line) south
Shifting to the Trenton Belt Line and original Interstate 95 southbound between U.S. 1 and Princeton Pike near Bakersville, the first southbound reassurance shield resides just west of the Exit 67 collector/distributor roadway end of Interstate 295 at U.S. 1. Photo taken 04/25/04.

Interstate 95 crosses over Franklin Corner Road (Mercer County 546) between Exit 8 and U.S. 206 (Lawrenceville Road). No access is provided from Interstate 95 southbound to Mercer County 546 but an off-ramp (Exit 8A) does from northbound to comprise the missing movement onto Mercer County 583 southbound at the nearby cloverleaf. Exit 7B departs Interstate 95 southbound for U.S. 206 (Lawrenceville Road) northbound into Lawrenceville and Princeton. The federal highway represents a growing and congested corridor between Trenton and Interstate 287 & U.S. 202 at Raritan. Southbound at the Exit 7A cloverleaf ramp onto U.S. 206 (Lawrenceville Road) southbound. U.S. 206 joins U.S. 1 Alternate via Princeton Avenue three miles south of Interstate 95. Federal City Road consists of a north-south road between Ewingville Road (Mercer County 636) and Pennington Lawrenceville Road (Mercer County 546). The street serves both Lawrenceville and Ewingville from Interstate 95 via a partial cloverleaf interchange at Exit 5. Photo taken 04/25/04.

The freeway expands to four southbound lanes although Exit 5A becomes an exit-only affair for the Exit 5A loop ramp onto Federal City Road southbound. Reed & Lower Ferry Road and the CSX Railroad line travel above Interstate 95 one quarter mile out from the Exit 3B/A collector/distributor roadway for Scotch Road and the township of Ewing. Scotch Road southbound (Exit 3B) serves the General Aviation aspect of Trenton-Mercer County Airport. Expansion of the Exit 3 interchange resulted in the c/d roadway and new cloverleaf ramp for Scotch Road south and Trenton-Mercer County Airport (Exit 3A). Interstate 95 southbound at the Exit 2 ramp departure for Mercer County 579 (Bear Tavern Road) for the Passenger Terminal of Trenton-Mercer County Airport and Ewing. Bear Tavern Road carries Mercer County 579 north from here to Titusville and Washington Crossing Pennington Road (Mercer County 546). Continuing to curve southwest on Interstate 95 toward the Exit 1 interchange with New Jersey 29 (River Road) northwest of Trenton. The freeway reduces from six to four lanes before crossing the Scudder Falls Bridge into the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The River Road interchange with New Jersey 29 and Exit 51 in Pennsylvania are slated for improvements and redesign to improve the traffic flow of Interstate 95 and safety of the ramp configurations. An interesting partial cloverleaf interchange composes the junction between Interstate 95 and New Jersey 29 (River Road) at Exit 2. Here River Road partitions into two one-way components with the associated ramps to Interstate 95 situated between. New Jersey 29 straddles the Delaware River northward from Exit 1 to Washington Crossing, Titusville, and Lambertville among other communities. Traffic from New Jersey 29 (River Road) merges onto Interstate 95 one half mile north of the first Pennsylvania interchange at Exit 51B/A. Taylorsville Road intersects the freeway there just north of the town of Yardley and west of Pennsylvania 32 (North River Road). The north-south road reaches Washington Crossing (junction Pennsylvania 532) 2.75 miles north and ends at Pennsylvania 32 (River Road) in five miles. A plan to replace the aging and congested span is underway with construction expected between 2008 and 2010.
