Interstate 95 South - Norwood to R.I.

Interstate 95 south
A full-cloverleaf interchange joins Interstate 95 with Interstate 495 at Exits 6B/A. Interstate 495 travels a circuitous route well outside of Boston between Haverhill, Lowell, Westborough, and Mansfield. The freeway spurs southeast from Interstate 95 Exit 6A to Toward Taunton and Cape Cod. Interstate 495 ends at Massachusetts 25 eight miles west of its junction with U.S. 6 at Buzzards Bay. Photo taken 06/27/05.
Long distance travelers to the resort areas of Cape Cod and Chatham should use Interstate 495 south to Massachusetts 25 and U.S. 6 east, all of which are freeways. Chatham lies 83 miles east of Interstate 95 Exit 6. Connections with the Massachusetts 24 freeway serve interests south to Fall River and New Bedford as well. Photo taken 06/27/05.
Six miles south of Interstate 495 is the northern terminus of Interstate 295 (Exit 5). Plenty of advance notice is given to southbound motorists of the forthcoming junction. Interstate 295 provides a western bypass of the Providence and Pawtucket urban centers of Rhode Island. Photo taken 06/27/05.
Before Interstate 95 reaches Interstate 295, Exit 5 joins the freeway with Robert F. Toner Boulevard near the North Attleborough and Attleboro Town lines. Massachusetts 152 travels along North Main Street parallel to the freeway to the Attleboro town center. Robert F. Toner Boulevard makes the connection to North Main Street for interests to Attleboro. Photo taken 06/27/05.
One half mile north of the Exit 5 folded-diamond interchange with Robert F. Toner Boulevard. Robert F. Toner Boulevard travels west from Massachusetts 152 (North Main Street) to Commonwealth Boulevard toward Elm Street and the North Attleborough Town center. Photo taken 06/27/05.
Airport travelers destined for Rhode Island's T.F. Green International Airport (PVD) are advised to use Interstate 295 west and south to Warwick, Rhode Island in lieu of Interstate 95 south through the downtown areas of Pawtucket and Providence. Photo taken 06/27/05.
Exit 5 leaves Interstate 95 southbound for Robert F. Toner Boulevard to Massachusetts 152 (North Main Street). Massachusetts 152 continues south to downtown Attleboro and junction Massachusetts 123. The state highway travels south from there to Lebanon Mills in Seekonk. Photo taken 06/27/05.
An oversized Interstate 95 reassurance marker coincides with the one-half mile overhead for Interstate 295 south (Exit 4). Interstate 295 travels west from a half-cloverleaf interchange toward Cumberland and Woonsocket, Rhode Island and south to Cranston and Warwick for its return to Interstate 95. Photo taken 06/27/05.
The southbound beginning of Interstate 295 departs Interstate 95 south at Exit 4. Interstate 295 meets U.S. 1 (Washington Street) two miles to the west near Old Town. Interstate 295 otherwise travels 26.58 miles back to Interstate 95 south of Cranston and T.F. Green Airport. The interchange between the two freeways here includes provisions for unconstructed Interstate 895, the planned east bypass of Providence through Seekonk and Barrington, Rhode Island. Photo taken 06/27/05.
