Interstate 95 Rhode Island - Southbound

Interstate 95 south
Interstate 95 southbound merges with U.S. 6 east between Exit 22 (junction Rhode Island 10) and Interstate 195 (Exit 20). U.S. 6 follows the Rhode Island 10 freeway east from the Olneyville section of Providence to Interstate 95 at downtown. U.S. 6 & Interstate 195 share pavement east from Exit 20 through East Providence. Photo taken 06/26/05.
Interstate 195 & U.S. 6 east split from Interstate 95 southbound at the Exit 20 directional interchange south of Broad Street (U.S. 1). The present left-hand exit carries motorists onto a curved section of freeway over the Providence River to India Point Park. A major project is underway to replace the present interchange and substandard freeway between Interstate 95 and the Washington Bridge over the Seekonk River with a new straighter freeway and signature span over the Providence River. Upon completion, a new high-speed interchange will join Interstate 95, 195, and U.S. 6 just south of their present junction. Interstate 195 & U.S. 6 otherwise head east to Fall River, New Bedford, and Wareham, with U.S. 6 making the journey east from Wareham onto Cape Cod. Photo taken 06/26/05.
Interstate 95 reassurance marker posted at the partial "Y" interchange merge with Interstate 295 south at Warwick. Photo taken 06/26/05.
The freeway approaches the six-ramp partial-cloverleaf interchange with Rhode Island 117 (Centerville Road) beyond the merge with Interstate 295. Rhode Island 117 travels locally east-west between Centerville in West Warwick and Apponaug in Warwick. Photo taken 06/26/05.
Exit 10B departs Interstate 95 southbound onto Rhode Island 117 (Centerville Road) west to West Warwick. Rhode Island 117 continues through Centerville to Quidnick, Anthony, and Washington through the town of Coventry. Rhode Island 117 east serves the Warwick town center at junction U.S. 1 and the coastal communities along the Providence River via West Shore Road. Photo taken 06/26/05.
Southbound at the Exit 10A loop ramp to Rhode Island 117 (Centerville Road) east. A large diagrammatical sign advises motorists of the impending split of Interstate 95 with the Rhode Island 4 freeway at Exit 9. Rhode Island 4 constitutes a southward freeway spur to Davisville, Quonset Point, North Kingstown, and junction U.S. 1 and Rhode Island 138 for Narragansett and Newport respectively. Photo taken 06/26/05.
Peering southward at the Exit 3B/A full-cloverleaf interchange with Rhode Island 138 (Main Street / Kingstown Road) in the town or Richmond. Rhode Island 138 west serves Wyoming and Hope Valley while eastbound travels to South Kingstown and Kingston. Photo taken 06/26/05.
