Interstate 95 Northbound - Pennsylvania Turnpike Extension

Interstate 95 north & Pennsylvania Turnpike Extension east
The Pennsylvania Turnpike Extension carries the Pennsylvania Turnpike eastward from the Delaware River Bridge to the New Jersey Turnpike at Mansfield. The route is slated to become a part of Interstate 95 by 2012 but signs were posted along the turnpike mainline by 2000. There is one interchange between the state line and end at the New Jersey Turnpike mainline. That exit serves U.S. 130 at Roebling. Photo taken 03/23/04.
Welcome to New Jersey and New Jersey Turnpike proclamation sign posted on the Pennsylvania Turnpike Extension (Interstate 95) eastbound one mile west of Roebling. The extension was constructed as part of the New Jersey Turnpike system to enable a seamless connection between the two respective toll roads. The New York Thruway authority did likewise with an extension of the Garden State Parkway as well. Photo taken 03/23/04.
U.S. 130 constitutes a major surface arterial through the eastern Philadelphia suburbs of South Jersey. The federal highway travels northward from Camden to Cinnaminson, Delran, Willingboro, Burlington, and Stevens before intersecting the Pennsylvania Turnpike Extension. Photo taken 03/23/04.
One mile west of the Interstate 95 northbound transition onto the New Jersey Turnpike mainline at the U.S. 130 (Burlington Bordentown Road) off-ramp. Burlington Bordentown Road carries the highway northward four miles from Burlington to junction Burlington County 656 (Florence Columbus Road) outside of Roebling and Florence. Five miles north of there is Bordentown. Photo taken 03/23/04.
A toll plaza resides between the U.S. 130 trumpet interchange and Pennsylvania Turnpike Extension end at the New Jersey Turnpike mainline. This is the second toll plaza future Interstate 95 northbound encounters between the Bristol interchange (U.S. 13) and New Jersey Turnpike mainline. The final barrier of the Pennsylvania Turnpike mainline exists just west of the Delaware River crossing. Photo taken 03/23/04.
Six lanes, two of which serve EZ Pass holders, compose the eastbound Pennsylvania Turnpike Extension toll barrier near Bustleton. The New Jersey Turnpike features a ticketed system with toll rates based upon distance traveled. Photo taken 03/23/04.
1950s retro sign bridges remain in use at the Pennsylvania Turnpike Extension and New Jersey Turnpike interchange at Mansfield. Signed as Exit 6 from the New Jersey Turnpike mainline, a directional interchange composes the junction between the two toll roads. Note the old format on the guide signs with New York and Camden as the control cities. Photo taken 03/23/04.
The Pennsylvania Turnpike Extension draws to a close at the ramp split between the New Jersey Turnpike north and south. Interstate 95 turns northward onto the New Jersey Turnpike for New Brunswick, Newark, Ridgefield, and the George Washington Bridge into New York City. Photo taken 03/23/04.
