The northbound beginning of U.S. 7 leaves Interstate 95 north for central Norwalk. The federal highway skims the western reaches of the state through Norwalk, Danbury, and New Milford. The freeway portion of U.S. 7 ends near South Wilton and resumes again south of Danbury. Plans originally called for U.S. 7 to follow a full freeway between Interstates 95 and 84.
