Traffic merging onto the freeway from Interstate 95 southbound joins Interstate 91 from the right. Exit 2 serves traffic from Interstate 95 southbound to Ives Place and East Street independent of traffic from Interstate 95 northbound. Photo taken 08/09/04. Exit 3 carries motorists onto Trumbell Street at Orange Street. Exit 5 serves the northbound beginning of U.S. 5 (State Street). Trumbell Street travels east-west between State Street and Prospect Street north of the New Haven central business district. One quarter mile south of the Exit 5 off-ramp onto the northbound beginning of U.S. 5 (State Street). U.S. 5 originally ended at the State Street intersection with Water Street (U.S. 1) in downtown New Haven.
