Interstate 87 / Adirondack Northway Southbound

Interstate 87 / Adirondack Northway South
Interstate 87 travels south from the customs station and the international border with Canada to Exit 43 at Rouses Point. The federal highway begins nearby at a cul-de-sac along the northbound side of Interstate 87. A short ramp joins a southbound side frontage road ahead of its merge with U.S. 9 northwest of Rouses Point. U.S. 9 begins at Exit 43 and travels southward to junction U.S. 11 on a parallel alignment to Interstate 87 throughout New York State. Photo taken July of 1995.
Interstate 87 Thaddeus Kosiusko Bridge over the Mohawk River. The twin bridges can be found on Interstate 87 between Crescent Road (Exit 8) and New York 7 (Exit 7) north of the Capital District. For more on the bridge itself, see Chris Jordan's Thaddeus Kosciusko Bridge. Photo taken 07/95.
Last Northway interchanges on Interstate 87 southbound for Interstate 90 (Exits 1W/E). The Adirondack Northway designation applies to Interstate 87 between its New York Thruway departure and the international border with Canada to the north. Interstate 87 takes on New York Thruway based exit numbers to the south of this location. Interstate 90 follows the Thruway west to Utica, Syracuse, Rochester, and Buffalo. Eastbound Interstate 90 skims Albany to the north on a freeway between here and Rensselaer. Photo taken July of 1995.
